Being exposed to a traumatic event can leave lasting effects on our mental and physical well-being. This is because experiencing traumatic events affects our nervous system and our perception of the world. This can lead to physical symptoms along with residual feelings of anxiety, anger, fear and depression.

Acupuncture and holistic therapies relieve the physical symptoms of stress as well as calming an overactive nervous system to reduce feelings of anxiety and depression.

In our treatments people do not have to talk and relive the trauma (avoiding the risk of re-trauma) They are safe and effective ways to restore a sense of safety ,balance and resilience.

How trauma works

Trauma is the imprint of a traumatic event, the imprint that occurs within us (body, soul, mind) and is active in the present. (Bessel van der Kolk)

When a person is exposed to psycho-stressful, traumatic situations in which stress, fear and anxiety challenge their strength and they feel they cannot cope, psychosomatic reactions are created.
One of the most significant and overlooked challenges in our communities is that without proper support for healing, trauma can develop into PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) and chronic disorder creating various symptoms.
Over time the symptoms become more and more complex and less and less connected to the traumatic experience affecting the health and well-being of the individual in a profound way.

What is the holistic approach?

Throughout diagnosis and treatment we take into account that the impact of traumatic experiences may lie at the root of the symptoms. We are also prepared to address the underlying causes of these and not just the symptoms (which can be significant).

The five guiding principles are: safety, trust choice, collaboration, and empowerment.
.

We help people feel:

relaxation and strengthening of the mind and soul

relief from symptoms

relief from physical pain

a sense of inner peace and strength, so that they begin to have a sense of security in their body

We observe their symptoms and sensations together, where there is pain , where there is relief we go as far as is enough for the body and they begin to become body aware, self care and social connection is cultivated.
